Often mistaken for prestigious law firm, Winstanley & Sullivan met on a gig backing up an Americana artist. Somewhere amidst the twang, the two realized a shared love of Jazz, an enchantment with the beautiful song-craft of the 1930’s, and the buoyant groove of Western Swing and early Jazz.
Both established Nashville sidemen, songwriters and bandleaders, together Cy and Jimmy have played at many of Nashville’s nite spots, bringing their nuanced, cruisy style with them.
As a duo, with Jimmy on upright bass, harmony and occasionally lead vocals, Cy on lead vocal and electric or acoustic guitar, they weave their way through the glorious music of yesteryear with a modern twist, by nature of their varied musical backgrounds. Often the duo is joined by keys, fiddle, or drums, bringing a bigger, but no less full sound.
